Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Superintendent

 

Servesasthehighschool's head administrator and instructionalleader.Promotes an effective learning environment. Encourages program innovations. Promotes close working relationships with parents, students, and staff. Keeps the superintendent informed about emerging issues.

 

ValidOhioprincipal'slicenseappropriatefortheassignment.

Meets allmandated health requirements (e.g.,anegative tuberculosistest,etc.). Documentationof a clear criminal record.

Meetsallprerequisitequalificationstobe bonded.

 

Thefollowing dutiesarerepresentativeof performance expectations. Areasonable accommodationmay be made toenable aqualified individualwith adisability to perform essential functions.

 

Directs the delivery and continuous improvement ofeducationalprograms to achieve thedistrict's written, implemented, and assessed curricula and mandated proficiencies. Participates as an active member of thedistrict's management team.

Upholdsboardpolicies andfollowsadministrativeprocedures.

Maintains visibility within thebuilding andatschoolfunctions. Promotes afavorable image of the school district. Builds community partnerships that enhance district programs and services.

Helps develop and implement the district's continuous improvementplan. Provides leadership forthedevelopment and implementation ofthe building's continuous improvement plan.

Providesstaffleadership. Develops action plans.Helpsresolve problems.Maintains open and effective communications with staff and the community.

Administers the board-approved budget forassigned areasofresponsibility.Ensures that collection/dispersal procedures are properly documented.

Works with district personnel inplanning facility improvements/upgrades. Oversees the development of the program of study.

Develops amaster schedule. Ensurestheequitabledistributionof workloads and extra assignments. Provides for classroomcoverage during teacher absences.

Prepares and distributes a school calendar. Observes established school hours. Oversees thescheduling and evaluation ofschool eventsand extracurricularactivities. Works with the athletic director to improve the athletic program. Coordinates district representation at athletic league meetings. Oversees scholastic eligibility verification and medical records maintenance functions.

Upholds applicable OhioRevised Codes and board policies (e.g., age, immunization, attendance, residency, guardianship, classification,promotion, retention, testing,etc.). Oversees enrollment and withdrawal procedures.

Keeps current with the K-12 courses of study, the district's scope and sequence framework, and state standards/guidelines.

Promotes thecontinuity ofthe instructionalprogram. Provides insightsaboutthe progressionofstudent skills and key contributions made by staff at each level.

Oversees proficiency and alternativetesting programs. Analyzestestresults. Provides staff direction for instructional modifications and interventions that enhance student learning and improve test performance.

Facilitates preparation activitiesforsummerschool programsthat helpstudents meet curricular and proficiency outcomes.

Encourages staff to develop and disseminate innovativeprogram materials. Supports IATprocesses tohelpstaff resolve problems that impede student learning. Supports afullrangeofeducational options.Complies with statemodelpolicies and procedures for the education of students identifiedas having a disability.

ParticipatesinparentconferencesandIBPmeetingsasrequested.

Provides guidance,communicates highexpectations, andshowsanactiveinterest in student progress.

Ensures thatservicesareprovided intheleastrestrictive educational environment. Promotes open communications with parents and the community.

Maintains highstandards and upholdsthestudent conduct code.Helpsteachers and administrators with discipline and pupil management issues. Administers student discipline procedures (e.g., recommendations, hearings, appeals, etc.).

Collaborates with theassistant principal torevise/update ateacher's manual and student/parent handbook.

Implements safety procedures toprotect school propetiy and helpensurethehealth and well being of students, staff, and visitors.

Provides staffsupervision forstudent activities (e.g.,arrivals/departures,parking lots, lunch periods, hall duty, extracurricular programs, etc.).

Overseesproceduresgoverningstudent-drivingprivileges.

Oversees procedures to ensure that all medicines are stored and dispensed safely. Updates emergency preparedness plans (e.g., fire drills, tornado drills, safety procedures, etc.). Responds to building emergencies toensure staff/student safety. Maintainseffective relationships withcommunity services(e.g.,courtsystems, law enforcement, health care facilities, child welfare services, etc.).

Participatesinstaffselectionandorientationprocesses.

Expresses highexpectations and monitorsstaffperformance (e.g.,observations, review of lesson plans, individual conferences, staffmeetings,etc.).Providesopportunities for staff to develop new skills.

Provides leadership intheplanning anddelivery ofstaffdevelopment programs that improve teacher outcomes (e.g., methods, skills, commitment, etc.).

Overseesthetimely submission ofreports, records, and inventories. Maintains district records for the maximum period mandated by law and/or boardpolicy.

Overseesthegraduationceremony.

Assists withthecollection andverification ofeducational management informationand student data in cooperation with the EMIS coordinator.

Promotes the effective use of available technologyin records managementand instructional activities. Upholds computer technology acceptable use policies. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information. Takes precautions toensurestaff/student safety. Monitors student behavior thatmay indicate a problem (e.g., profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, etc.). Intervenes and works with staff and students to eliminate unacceptable behavior.

Reports evidenceofsuspectedchildabuseasrequiredbylaw.

Encourages parentorganizations.Supports and participates inschool andstudent activities as time permits.

Supports appropriate researchand pilotprojects. Identifies and recommends funding opportunities. Helps prepare grant and foundation proposals.

Participates in national, state,and/or regional activitiesthat advancedistrict goals. Participates in professional growth opportunities.

Acceptspersonalresponsibilityfordecisionsandconduct.

Strives to develop rapport and serves asapositive role model forothers. Performs other specific job-relatedduties as directed.
