Location: Mentor, OH

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Monday – Friday
SHIFTS: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shifts, and 1st and 2nd Shift Weekends available! We offer paid training, over-time.

Our Machining department is responsible for the Machining of turbine engine components to achieve specified dimensions. Our customers are worldwide leaders in the fields of aerospace, marine and the land-based industry sectors. The final product must conform to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow both written and verbal work instructions, use approved gauges and tools to inspect parts to determine required material removal using tooling, speeds, feeds and coolants. May require setting gauges to approved master gauges.
  • Operate machines to remove material to achieve required dimensions prior to the application of coatings, after application of finish coatings, or to establish part features. The loading and unloading parts are a part of the set-up.
  • Dimensional accuracy may require the use of inspection gauges, comparator, micrometers, calipers, 6” rule, dial indicator, ring gauges, drill/reamer, Johnson gauges, magnifier and lights and miscellaneous hand tools and chip strippers.
  • Identifies and corrects machining problems relative to tools and tool holders, collets and chucks.
  • Accurately record findings on provided work instructions and documentation.
  • Follow provided work instructions. May be required to use heat, dry ice, or liquid nitrogen for some processes.
  • Perform finishing operations when required, such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
  • From time-to-time, participate in the training process and offer expertise in the OJT program for various levels of machinist technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Technical high school diploma, machinist trade school or equivalent work experience.
  • Set-up experience with tooling and fixtures with the ability to follow instructions per technical drawings or work instructions.
  • Familiar with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
  • Indication of fixtures and part to reduce runout.
  • Setting adjustable tooling.
  • Understanding timing or rotational values.
  • Using existing features to create machining starting point.
  • Understanding how to create a flat plane for start of machining process.
  • General skills such as use of hand-held power tools, files, assembly and disassembly. Read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to communicate with other employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to pass a hearing test, drug screen and background check.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Work standing and/or sit for extended hours.
  • Move heavy parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, two person lifts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, carts or other handling methods.
  • Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
