Design Engineer, High Density Liquid Cooling - Westerville

About the Job

The Design Engineer provides detailed instructions and guidance to the Vertiv Installation team by way of new and/or marked up drawings, including but not limited to all site plan drawings (i.e., Cabling, Floor, Cable Rack, Lighting, Grounding, etc.), Equipment Wiring List and Block Schematics, Front Equipment drawings and a detailed Installation Procedure (Specification). The Design Engineer's role also includes the provision of a detailed Bill of Material (BOM) reflecting all necessary installation material required to install new equipment completely and accurately, as required by the customer's Engineering and Installation standards. Site surveys and customer visits may be required to gather information for the Scope of Work (SOW) to be performed. Perform computational fluid dynamic analysis on solution to ensure fluid flow and heat extraction meet customer specifications.

The Design Engineer will be required to provide technical support services and guidance to the Vertiv Installation team and the customer, while maintaining the highest level of quality and professionalism.

RESPONSIBILITIES


* Achieve required engineering metrics.
* Work closely with Project Management and Installation teams to ensure project profitability is met.
* Ensure the Engineering package is at the highest level of quality possible.
* Ensure the accuracy of materials ordered is at the highest level possible.
* Perform all work with safety in mind and ensure that all safety measures are met.
* Assist Field Engineering team as needed providing support for pricing of projects.
* Assist other segments of the business such as Purchasing, Material Operations, etc. with technical support and guidance.
* Create Engineering tools such as Template Specs, BOMS, Drawings, etc.
* Perform Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis on solution to ensure fluid flow and heat extraction meet customer specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:


* Experience in HVAC, Hydronics, and/or Central Office Design Engineering or related industries.
* At least 5 years' work experience in data center design and applications.
* Creation, control, and review and approval of technical solutions and customer proposals.
* Solution-based thinking that will incorporate mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering competencies to an end-customer deployment.
* A working knowledge of IT and Telecom industry end-applications to successfully deploy the support infrastructure required.
* Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
* Ability to forecast completion dates and willingness to meet deadlines.
* Excellent organization and time management skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
* Willingness to travel.
* Familiarity with standard software packages (Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Windows applications).

Preferred Qualifications:


* Experience with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software is considered beneficial.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS


* BS degree in Engineering (6 years' experience with the creation, control, review and approval of technical solutions and customer proposals related to data center design will be acceptable in lieu of a degree).
* MBA and experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or structural engineering preferred.
