The Job Details are as follows:

The Associate Systems Automation Engineer will be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day delivery of services and support across all platforms, including virtual and physical servers, storage, backups, cloud, containers, and disaster recovery. This role will focus on process improvements and automation across all aspects of infrastructure, encompassing on-prem server deployments, patching, self-servicing ticketing systems, and AWS cloud automation. The goal is to make OCLC systems more agile and less disruptive. Additionally, this role will involve assisting senior members on large-scale projects and requires the ability to interact with multiple technology teams within the company.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administer Unix/Linux systems with day-to-day system resource requests, like system level access, installing packages, discovering, and configuring storage and backup services.
  • Support, maintain, analyze, and solve problems across multiple computing platforms through automation.
  • Identify system activities for automation and eliminating defects in existing processes.
  • Use scripting and automation to effectively manage hosting services.
  • Work with development, database, and operations teams to address day-to-day support requests and issues.
  • Understand virtual environments, cloud computing, containers, storage, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Document and report on work efforts.
  • Provide feedback and requirements to engineering and solutions teams on technology and automation needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a Computer Science related discipline required and skills usually represented by 1-2 years of working knowledge of Unix based systems.
  • Experience with Linux configurations tools like ansible.
  • Must have knowledge to develop bash shell scripts and knowledge of Perl or Python programming languages.
  • Ability to help debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of operating systems, including Linux, and VMWare.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in existing systems.

 

Working Conditions:Normal office environment.
