Position Overview




Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications. Work with developers to design algorithms and flowcharts. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle. Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance. Monitor functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Develop or direct software system testing or validation procedures. Direct software programming and development of documentation. Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.


Responsibilities




Assists in developing state-of-the-art computational electromagnetics (CEM) software and tools
Aides in designs, development, documentation, testing (validation and verification) and debugging software
Supports code development activities such as documenting requirements, developing test plans, and performing software validation and verification activities
and evaluates test data, prepares technical reports, recommends methods and procedures required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes
Applies new methods, algorithms, or processes, and evaluates and communicates conclusions
Assists in establishing and maintaining standards and best practices for software development
Evaluates new industry standards and best practices for suitable adoption
Becomes a subject matter expert in computational methods, software engineering, applied mathematics/physics, and/or modeling and simulation
Other duties as assigned


Qualifications




Required Qualifications:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Education and Experience:

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Science or closely related field with software development experience
Bachelor's with 3+ years of experience, or
Master's with 0+ years of experience
Relevant years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

3+ years programing experience with languages like C, C++ and/or Fortran
Familiarity with software development on and for Linux or other Unix-like systems
Familiarity with Python, Unix shell scripting and similar languages
Familiarity with version control software applications
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal
Willingness to learn and perform other duties as assigned
Ability to travel (less than 10%)

Desired Qualifications:

Active Security Clearance, TS/SCI (with poly preferred)
Experience working collaboratively on software development
Experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Experience with parallel programming on high-performance computers (MPI and/or OpenMP)
Experience developing cross-platform (Windows and Linux) software
Additional STEM degree in physics, electrical engineering, or applied mathematics or experience developing software for scientific applications
Familiarity with electromagnetic wave theory
Familiarity with linear algebra and numerical solutions techniques or numerical algorithms


Global Comp




$100,000- $150,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
