SUMMARY: The Bar Processor will process (Shear, punch or Gauer) the proper bar to the correct dimensions, tolerances, and/or other specifications as defined on a job traveler. This is an entry level support position, work is reviewed by a supervisor or senior worker to ensure the quality and accuracy of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review job traveler and identify what material, process, and press or machine is needed to perform the requirements of the traveler.
  • Follow all operating procedures, process instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Basic set-up and adjustment to the particular machine to meet the specifications on the job traveler.
  • Produce quality and quantity products within quality production guidelines, to maintain production levels.
  • Use and Operate Safely overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Organize and identify the material in racks, coils or bundles.
  • Properly place rack or bundle as needed for the next operation or back in stock as required.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and time sheets to properly manage inventory and job cost.
  • Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.
  • Recognize and report all defects to operators, line lead, and/or supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: A High School diploma or equivalent is required for this position. The candidate must be able to read and interpret documents such as travelers, procedures, and instructions and be able to write short notes or memos. The candidate will also be able to read tape measures and scales and perform mathematical operations of whole numbers and fractions in both standard and metric units of measure. Adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and multiplying and dividing by 10s and 100s without the use of a calculator is required. The candidate will know how to use and safely operate various hand and power tools. This position requires a team player who possesses both written and verbal communication skills and takes pride in group dynamics and motivating others. Candidates with CNC operation, Tool and Die change/set up, and 1 plus years of the following are preferred: CNC Operation experience, Tool and Die change/set-up experience, 3 or more years’ overhead crane and forklift experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must push bar on rollers weighing 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is encountered with repetitive movement tasks, which requires the employee to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, push and pull grating material of various size and weights for long periods of time. Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds, using proper lifting techniques, help from another employee or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential duties of this job the employee is regularly working on the production floor. The work environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis. Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
