Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse-Special Needs shall complete the nursing assessment form on each new patient, obtain interval history, medication list, symptoms, radiology results, laboratory results, and vital signs for follow-up and under treatment patients; manage medical emergencies until relieved by other appropriate medical staff; administer injections, start Foley catheters, and assist with pelvic exams; ensure clinic supplies are appropriately stocked and maintained; participate in continuing education and demonstrate familiarity with modern radiation oncology nursing techniques and practices. The RN shall ensure treatment for completeness and accuracy, verify treatment parameters, participate in continuing education, and demonstrate familiarity with modern radiation oncology nursing techniques and practices.
Required Experience and Skills
Shall be a graduate of associates (Associates Degree in Nursing, ADN) or baccalaureate degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN) program accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
The Registered Nurse-Special Needs must have a minimum of twelve (12) months experience as a clinical radiation oncology nurse and a total of three (3) years of combined oncology clinic experience within five (5) years of assuming employment
