YOUTH SPECIALIST/JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICER *FEMALE*

Clermont County Juvenile Detention

Full-Time, Unclassified (employee serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority)
80 hours/bi-weekly
12 Hour Shifts, day or night shift TBD, days vary, every other weekend off

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)

Pay: $21.00/hr

Probationary Period: Clermont County Juvenile Court uses a 180 day training time frame for new employees. This time frame supports our adherence to the at-will nature of your employment with Clermont County Juvenile Probation.

JOB OVERVIEW: Provide security to incarcerated juvenile delinquents who are either charged or sentenced for a crime; oversee the juvenile correctional facility, maintaining order, and ensuring the well-being and safety of the inmates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Process admission and release of juveniles
• Perform necessary searches, checking property and completing paperwork
• Provide first aid and administer medications according to prescribed time and dosage
• Provide adjustment and crisis counseling to juveniles
• Escort juveniles to designated activities and court hearings
• Lead recreational activities
• Discipline juveniles and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior
• Instruct juveniles regarding desirable health and personal hygiene habits
• Perform housekeeping duties
• Ensure the safety and security of the juveniles’ daily activities and special incidents
• Other duties as assigned

• Write reports and evaluate the performance of juveniles
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from juveniles, supervisors, childcare workers and the public
• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form
Requirements…
• High School education or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one prior to employment date)
