Expected Length of Internship:

Positions available for 2024 in First Solar's Perrysburg, Ohio Manufacturing and Technology Center (near Toledo)


As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enrol in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn't interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Experience:


Experience in computer applications including Microsoft Excel and Power Point Required
Experience in technical writing required
Solar and/or renewable industry experience preferred
Experience in JMP and SQL preferred
Statistics experience preferred
Drone piloting experience preferred

Education:


Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering undergraduate students
Overall G.P.A. greater than or equal to 3.00 (based on 4.0 scale)
Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master's or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree.

Basic Internship Scope (Project):


Support various functions of the Post Sales Operations team by hosting cross-functional meetings, originating technical documentation, analysing and reporting field returns data, and photographing solar fields as an FAA-certified commercial drone pilot.
Become an FAA-licensed commercial drone pilot by obtaining an FAA Part 107 certificate. Pilot a drone at solar installations and take, interpret, and analyse aerial photography including thermal imagery. Compile results and report out to stakeholders.
Lead a minimum of one engineering based project with end of term reporting; potential topics could be: legacy product guidance, fielded product reporting by region, review of AI to evaluate warrantable product claims, drone piloting, analysis of thermal imagery, and/or software application development for internal field team.
Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Estimated Hourly Range:


$17.00 - $25.00

20/40 vision in each eye, (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
