Basic Job Functions:


Work with First Solar Manufacturing Engineering team in the Deposition/Thermal group in of First Solar's Perrysburg, Ohio Manufacturing facilities. Equipment areas include thin film PVD deposition, thermal processing, glass grinding and metrology.
Intern will take part in day-to-day manufacturing sustaining activities in collaboration with manufacturing operations and engineering groups.
Job function also involves in developing training materials for Perrysburg manufacturing facility.

Ensure training material (preferably video) meets approved documented methods.
Camera and editing video experience not required. Manufacturing intern to work with audio/visual interns to capture live content and edit training video to meet engineering specifications.

Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Education/Experience:


At the time of the application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in semester/quarter (Spring/Fall) pursuing Bachelor's or Post-graduate degree.
Available to work full-time hours during internship period through Summer 2024 semester.
Intern or work experience in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or other Technical field is desired.

Required Skills/Competencies:


Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner.
Demonstrates an analytic approach to problem solving. Proficiency in lean six-sigma concept is a plus.
Proficient use of basic Microsoft Office suite programs.
Proficiency in data analysis using JMP, IGOR pro, MATLAB is desired but not required.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Essential Responsibilities:


Develop an understanding of the First Solar manufacturing flow our technology environment.
Participate in work-specific training and development.
Direct involvement in daily manufacturing sustaining activities such process and equipment troubleshooting and maintaining sustaining scorecards.
Perform analytical project related to First Solar Proprietary & Confidential technologies.
Work collaboratively with multiple departments and groups within First Solar.
Participate in, or lead, meetings with First Solar staff.
Work with experienced professionals in the performance of responsibilities; check in regularly with assigned mentor/supervisor.
Lead a minimum of one engineering-based project with end of term reporting; Projects involved in Tool based safety, Quality or throughput improvement.
Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Reporting Relationships:


Will be reporting to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Travel:


Travel between the First Solar Manufacturing Campus in Perrysburg Only.

Estimated Salary Range:


$14.50 - $24.95 Hourly

Physical Requirements:


Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
