Job Description


Essential Functions:

* Manage / Coordinate all monthly close activities related to Lifestyle business unit for Invacare's North American Operations.

* Provide direction and leadership on streamlining and standardizing activities aimed at reducing complexity, improving accuracy, and reducing cost.

* Manage reporting of Sales, Distribution and SG&A

* Manage staff activities ensuring that close is completed efficiently according to schedule.

* Generate and review consolidated Financial Statements for all North American Operations providing an overview of results, split by Rehab and Lifestyle business units and product categories within, confirmation of accuracy, and analytical reporting of results to include P&L, Balance Sheet, & Statement of Cash Flows.

* Ensure timely completion & review of all Balance Sheet reconciliations.

* Take the lead on matters tied to commissions and bonus compensation, customer rebates, and demo management.

* North American Co-Lead with Director, Finance Rehab for all FP&A activities; Budget (Annual), Forecasting (Quarterly), & Strategic Planning (Annual) activities.

* In association with corporate deadlines, develop and coordinate a schedule of activities that will allow for all budget and forecast activities to be completed. Coordinate / Enforce deliverables with site controllers, staff, and business segment leaders.

* Continually evaluate and modify requirements to align to business strategy ensuring that the appropriate amount of detail / effort is aligned with business needs.

* Develop presentation materials to effectively communicate results to senior leadership.

* Distribute and collaborate on spending with cost center owners.

* Maintain capital spending reporting for North America.

* Preparation and commentary of monthly reporting.

* Ensure the accuracy of staff reporting that is distributed to business leaders is maintained.

* Work with staff to continually improve the level of commentary included in reporting making sure it is focused and aligned with current needs.

* Work to direct staff to improve the level of automation involved in generating standardized reporting through collaboration with IT.

* Develop and present financial position at Monthly Divisional Business Review meeting to business leaders.

* Oversee the development of the monthly Corporate Business Review Package, provide supporting analysis and commentary in support to the presentation deck.

* GAAP / SOX Compliance.

* Ensure that activities are completed timely, accurately, and completely in accordance with Invacare's internal controls. Continually evaluate the financial statements for compliance with GAAP.

* Collaborate with Corporate on significant GAAP changes the associated business actions (Revenue Recognition, Lease Accounting) ensuring that staff is properly updated, trained and directed to account for these activities.

* Work with Internal Audit and staff to improve the efficiency of our internal controls to focus effort on meaningful controls to provide assurances on compliance with minimal resource consumption.

* Lead role in communications with internal and external auditors.

* People Management and Development.

* Effectively define and communicate expectations with employees tied to tangible, measurable, and meaningful goals

* Mentor and develop employees.

* Develop knowledge sharing and task documentation for staff, to minimize transitional disruptions.

* Responsibility for the accuracy of standard costing for North America purchased items.

* Ensure that staff is appropriately collaborating with procurement to appropriately set standard cost. Considerations should be taken to understand freight in assumptions, commodity indexing, and expectations around demand / economic order quantities, and inventory targets.

* Review Purchase Price Variance reporting accordingly.

* Lead / Participate as required in ad hoc business activities.

* Reporting for allocated costs down to product categories

* ERP Implementation.

* Legal Entity Consolidation.

* Business Unit Consolidation.

* Transfer pricing.

* Evaluate staffing needs and costs; identifies, hires and promotes individuals with the right skills and competencies necessary to achieve superior results.

* Develop a team environment that values diversity and uses various individual's strengths to the benefit of the team.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience within Accounting/Finance; manufacturing industry experience preferred.

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.

* CPA strongly preferred.

* System implementation experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP or Oracle.

* Consolidation systems experience, SAS or HFM

* Training on Lean / World Class Manufacturing concepts - green belt / black belt certification.

* Result and profit-oriented with ability to balance other business considerations.

* Strong leadership and communication skills with both direct reports and business partners.

* Working knowledge of ERP systems; demonstrated ability to manage the use of technology to improve performance and efficiency within the business.

* Experience in centralization projects and activities.

* Proven and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; great written and verbal communication skills.

* Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

* Participative management style - advocates team concept.
