POSITION SUMMARY:

Pepper Construction Company is looking for a naturally curious, motivated student with a passion for learning about safety in the construction industry to come and experience life as a Safety Professional with General Contractor as a Safety Intern this summer. The right student for this role will have a strong base of computer skills, coupled with high-quality written and verbal communication skills.



The Safety Intern position has responsibility to further enhance and promote our Pepper Safety Culture. Safety is the first priority at Pepper and we are committed to taking the steps necessary to protect our team members and to the continuing effort of striving for an accident free workplace. The Safety Intern will work under the guidance of our Safety Department. This position is primarily field oriented and will be focused on understanding and ensuring safe work practices are implemented and enforced on all Pepper Construction projects.



Major Responsibilities:


Assist in implementation and enhancement of Pepper Construction's safety program
Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and owner/contractual requirements.


Assist Safety Manager and Superintendents in safety preconstruction meetings and conducting research, as needed.


Assist in conducting jobsite and work area inspections with the Safety Manager, Superintendent, or independently.
Participate in training at safety meetings, video toolbox talks, and orientations.


Assist in maintaining safety records, including PSSP's, task hazard analyses, training records, toolbox meetings, incident investigations, and metrics.


Assist in reviewing trade partner safety programs for completeness and compliance with Pepper's policies.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Currently enrolled college student entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year
Field of study in safety management, safety engineering, industrial hygiene or occupational environmental health and safety
Strong base of computer skills in MicroSoft Office Suite of programs


Collaborative and able to work just as well individually as with a team
Well-developed communication skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task with a level-head
Must be able to provide own transportation to and from work related activities
